tHE lEARNING cENTER -TYPES OF INSTRUCTION

THREE STYES OF INSTRUCTION:

Self-Paced Lab Style

Students have an opportunity to work at their own pace to complete class assignments for a HBAS high school diploma or prepare for the GED. Teachers provide one-to-one instruction and are available to assist students as needed. All assignments are completed in the classroom.

Independent Study:

Designed for the busy and self-motivated adult who wants to earn credits for a high school diploma by studying at home and attending school once a week. The student brings completed assignments to a pre-arranged appointment with a teacher. The teacher evaluates the completed work, provides instruction, and assigns new coursework for the next week. Student must meet the academic prerequisites and the terms of the Independent Study Agreement. For students in the Independent Study program, there will be a $40 deposit (exact cash) required at time of registration. This deposit is refundable at the end of the semester or at the completion of the course if all books have been returned in good condition.

Distance Learning GED

Students use online course and meet with the teacher once a month. Communication via Internet/email is on-going.
